Baby!

So I was going to wait till Sunday to write a blog post as I have two essays I really should be doing but I cannot concentrate on reading for the life of me right now because we're expecting a baby! So I shall write my post now :)

We had the 12 week scan yesterday which was the most amazing thing I have ever seen! It moved around so much stretching out its legs and lifting its hands up, watching it was the most amazing feeling!
My mum had a number of miscarriages and so it's been something I've been particularly wary of as I've grown up being aware (to only a tiny extent) of the heartache that that causes and also worrying that I might have the same difficulties as her (which I may still in the future but for now I'm counting my blessings). So I have spent the last 9 weeks since we found out being on edge, constantly checking that there is never any blood and being wary of any feelings of cramps etc. so to have been able to see our little baby moving around so much gave the most amazing feeling of relief and happiness in the world, I may have even got a little bit emotional... But who could not get slightly emotional at seeing this tiny little baby with its little face, hand, fingers and legs which are growing just as they should be so far!

Now, we all know everyone loves a good gossip so we might as well clear it all up now. As much as it may come as a surprise to some, this little baby was completely planned! Ethan and I have always said we wanted to have children pretty early on but thought that after our degrees was when we'd think about it a bit more. However after we'd been married for a couple of months the subject of children kept on coming up everywhere which we dismissed as not an option the first few times, then after a while we decided maybe this is something we should pray about, which we did and the idea still didn't go away! So we decided to fast and go to the temple to pray about it and we both very strongly felt that actually this was the right thing for us at this time! And then within a month and a half we had a positive pregnancy test! The timing happens to work out perfectly as from September this year I have a year out from university as Ethan has a compulsory  year abroad on his course and so our little baby will be a year old before it has to go into any form of childcare and even then it will only be for a couple of mornings a week during term time for my final year which is far better than people who work full time with children so it's really not a problem.

But anyway we are both very excited! We may have even bought a couple of things for it already, Ethan's personal favourite is a little toy giraffe or horse (I can't remember which) with little wobbly legs and a chime inside so it makes a little noise when you play with it, it's cute! So much love for this little baby already! :)
